Earlier this Summer, we took nominations for a free Champion system giveaway. We received many nominations and suggestions, but none stuck out to us quite like Pathway to Hope in Olathe, KS.
Pathway to Hope is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support people struggling with mental illness by empowering and educating individuals and families. There are multiple ways that Pathway to Hope provides this support, including weekly support groups for those both struggling with mental illness as well as those caring for a loved one with mental illness, educational courses surrounding several aspects of mental illness, and hosting a clubhouse where individuals with mental illness have the opportunity to work as colleagues along with staff to operate the clubhouse and work with peers to develop leadership and organizational skills.
Pathway to Hope also operates a home in Downtown Olathe which provides affordable, low-cost housing for up to six residents living with mental illness who are stable and active in their recovery. This is an invaluable asset to those who may be homeless, couch-surfing, or transitioning between major life decisions and need a bit of extra support through their illness. This is the house in which we installed the new system courtesy of Champion.
